Mallory Radwitch

Coach Radwitch is entering her tenth season as head softball coach. She was recently named to the Belhaven University Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Last year, the Sun Chiefs tied the record for the most wins in school history with a record of 43-15 and finished first in the Southern Division. She also got her 300th career win during last season, as well as, sent 12 Sun Chiefs on to play at the next level. For the second year in a row, the team received NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honors for their team gpa of 3.5 and had 11 players receive NJCAA Academic All-American Honors. The team also had 15 NFCA All America Scholar-Athlete award recipients. Coastal South had the Southern Division Player of the Year in the 2022 season. During the 2021 season, the team had a record of 34-19 and won the Southern Division Championship. Coastal South also had the Southern Division Player and Pitcher of the Year and Coach Radwitch received the Southern Division Coach of the Year Award. Twelve players received NJCAA Academic All-American Honors and the team was named as one of NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year with a team GPA of 3.45. In 2020, the season was cut short due to COVID but the Sun Chiefs had a record of 16-6. In 2019, the Sun Chiefs finished second in the Southern Division and fifth at the ACCC Region 22 Tournament and had an overall record of 35-27. She was also named as the Co-South Coach of the Year. In 2016 and 2017, her teams won a total 85 games with a record of 43-15 in 2016, winning Southern Division titles and achieving the most wins for a season in the college's history. In her tenure at Coastal, she has had 4 player/pitchers of the year for Region 22 and over 40 players received All-Region 22 honors for their athletics and academics. Coach Radwitch was a member of the coaching staff for the 2017 NJCAA All-Star Team that competed in the prestigious Canada Cup.


As a graduate of Baker High School she grew up in Mobile, Ala. She was a member of the Honeybees State Championship Softball Team in 2005. She then attended Faulkner State where she played both volleyball and softball. While at Faulkner she received the President's Award, was a member of the All-Alabama Academic Team, and was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa. After graduating from Faulkner State with an Associate's Degree in General Studies, she attended Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, where she also played softball. While there she received honors for the 3.0 Blazer Club, All-Region, All-Conference and NAIA and NFCA 1st Team All-American Honors. She currently holds the record for most home runs in a season (18) and highest batting average in a season (.485) at Belhaven. Also, she ranks 1st all-time in home runs (33), 1st all-time in slugging percentage (.835), 2nd all-time in batting average (.451) and is top-10 among career leaders in RBI, hits, and on-base percentage. After graduating with her B.S. in Psychology she was then a graduate assistant for two years at Belhaven. In 2010, she and the coaching staff received NFCA NAIA East Region Coaching Staff of the Year award. In 2011, she received her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Belhaven University. Coach Radwitch is the huddle coach for Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Coastal and received the FCA MVP award in 2021 for her service to the organization. She also teaches in our Health/Physical Education department alongside her coaching duties.


She currently resides in Spanish Fort with her husband, David, and their 10-year-old son, Bryce, 7-year-old son, Brantley and 1-year-old son, Brendan.

Will Hess

Coach Hess in entering his first season with the Sun Chiefs as assistant softball coach. He works primarily with the pitchers and catchers but assists in all facets of the game including scouting and recruiting efforts. He was born and raised in Semmes, Ala., and graduated from Murphy High School in 2012. After high school, Coach Hess accepted a manager position at Faulkner State Community College for the Sun Chief softball program where he worked as the team statistician and graduated in 2015. From there, he accepted another softball manager position at Southeastern Louisiana University where he received his bachelor's in Applied Behavioral Sciences. In the summer of 2019, Coach Hess started his coaching career leading a team of professional athletes through the American Softball Association (ASBA). His team finished as regular season and tournament champions and had 11 of their 14 athletes receive All-ASBA accolades. From the conclusion of the league that summer, he accepted the assistant coach position at Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, Tenn. In two seasons with the Eagles, he worked primarily with the pitchers; finishing top three in the state in team ERA each year and coaching one All-TCCAA Pitcher of the Year.


In 2021, Coach Hess moved to Babson Park, Fla. and spent one season with Webber International University. In that year he helped coach the Warriors to a Sun Conference Tournament championship, NAIA Regional Tournament championship, and the school's fourth ever trip to the NAIA World Series; finishing the season ranked #10 in the nation.


His most recent stop before his return to Bay Minette, was in the fall of 2022 where he was on staff as pitching coach for the University of West Georgia. He is currently getting his master's in Sports Management - Statistical Analysis from the University of West Georgia.
