Marissa Lamison-Myers

Colgate Athletics named Marissa Lamison-Myers as the Raiders’ head softball coach in July 2017.

Lamison-Myers has continued to build a successful program both on and off the field. She has mentored nine All-Patriot League selections and six Academic All-Patriot League selections. Under Lamison-Myers’ guidance, Colgate has landed two Academic All-League picks in every season except for 2020, which did not include postseason awards.

Lamison-Myers’ career record stands at 64-82-1 overall and 27-31-1 in Patriot League play.

Colgate finished 16-15-1 in 2021, its second consecutive winning season.

The Raiders advanced to their second straight Patriot League tournament behind 13 conference wins, their most since securing the regular season title with 16 in 2011.

Four All-Patriot League selections in 2021 marked Colgate’s most since 2012.

Colgate's 25 home runs in 2021 ranked atop the Patriot League for the third consecutive campaign and the team’s .290 team average ranked third.

Raiders Return to Patriot League Tournament

Colgate returned to the Patriot League tournament and secured the No. 3 seed behind a 16-15-1 overall record and 13-9-1 mark in conference play in 2021. The Raiders picked up their first postseason victory since 2015 with their 4-3 triumph over Army. Colgate won all but two conference series, taking three out of four from Holy Cross, Lehigh, Lafayette, and Army.

2020 Marked Colgate’s Best Start Since 2010

Colgate has increased its win total in each of the first two seasons under Lamison-Myers and the Raiders were on pace to continue that trend in 2020 before the season ended abruptly. Colgate jumped out to a 10-5 overall record, its best 15-game start since 2010, before finishing 12-8 overall. The 12 wins were the second most in the Patriot League at the end of the season.

The Raiders in 2020 led the league by a wide margin in home runs (19), with the next closest team at 10, anchored by eight alone from sophomore Morgan Farrah. Colgate also led the Patriot League in walks (65) and ranked second in the Patriot League in hits (133), triples (4), and runs scored (88) with a .245 team batting average. Defensively, the Raiders ranked second in the league in ERA (2.74), led by freshman Bailey Misken's 1.02 clip in 68.1 innings pitched.

Steady Improvements in 2019 Led to Postseason Berth

Colgate in 2019 posted its most wins (25) since 2011, finishing 25-27 overall and 8-10 in league play to advance to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Raiders led the Patriot League in home runs (31) and ranked 32nd nationally in doubles per game (1.52).

In 2019, Lamison-Myers guided three All-League selections, highlighted by Meghan Romero’s First Team At-Large honor. Successful both on the field and in the classroom, Lamison-Myers mentored a pair of Academic All-League student-athletes in Virginia Irby and Jordan Miller, while the Raiders boasted a league-high 17 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Program Growth in First Year at the Helm in 2018

The Raiders remained in contention for a Patriot League Tournament berth during the final regular-season series of the year during Lamison-Myers’ first season at the helm in 2018. She mentored a pair of All-Patriot League picks in Holly Geranen (first team) and Virginia Irby (second team), as well as two Academic All-League selections (Irby and Kyle Griswold). Under Lamison-Myers’ guidance, Geranen became the first Raider to earn All-ECAC accolades in 15 years.

Prior to Colgate

Lamison-Myers came to Colgate after a four-year stint at Bucknell as the top assistant to the 2015 Patriot League Coach of the Year. Prior to her time with the Bison, Lamison-Myers was a member of a national championship coaching staff at Tufts.

She helped coach the Bison to three Patriot League Tournament appearances, two second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish during her four years at Bucknell. The Bison finished 35-20 in 2015, marking the all-time winningest team in program history as head coach Bonnie Skrenta garnered Patriot League Coach of the Year honors.

Lamison-Myers worked with the Bison pitchers and catchers during her first two years in Lewisburg. She mentored Amanda Fazio, the program’s all-time leader in strikeouts and innings pitched. Over her past two seasons, Lamison-Myers transitioned into the third base coaching role, playing a crucial role in the Bison’s in-game strategies.

Prior to her time at Bucknell, Lamison-Myers was a two-year assistant at Tufts where she helped lead the Jumbos to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship. The squad won back-to-back NESCAC titles as well as regional championships. Tufts earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament during both of her years with the team, finishing fifth in 2012 before winning the national championship in 2013. Lamison-Myers was a member of the staff that was selected as the NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013 and Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Lamison-Myers holds high school and club experience. She was the assistant coach at Penn-Trafford High School in 2011 as well as the co-head coach of the Pittsburgh Predator travel team for 10 summers.

Playing Career

Lamison-Myers was a four-year starting catcher at Clarion University. She ranks fourth all-time on the Clarion career walks list. A Harrison City, Pa. native, she graduated from Clarion with honors in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and concentrations in coaching and sports management. Lamison-Myers also completed several post-baccalaureate classes while at Tufts.

Matt Nandin

Head Coach Marissa Lamison-Myers announced the hiring of assistant coach Matt Nandin in August 2019.

Nandin helped guide the Raiders back to the Patriot League tournament in 2021 behind 13 conference victories, their most since securing the regular season title with 16 in 2011. Once again working with the hitters, Colgate ranked atop the Patriot League in home runs for the third consecutive year with 26. Nandin and the staff saw Colgate’s batting average jump from .245 to .290 in 2021, which was good for third-best in the Patriot League. The Raiders also ranked No. 3 in the conference in hits (231), doubles (54), walks (69), and runs (134).

In his first season as an assistant coach, Nandin helped lead Colgate to its best 15-game start since 2010 with a 10-5 mark. The Raiders finished 12-8 and were on pace to eclipse the previous year's win total for the third consecutive year before the season was cut short. Colgate paced the Patriot League in home runs (19), with the next closest team at 10. The Raiders as a team also led the Patriot League in walks (65) and ranked second in the Patriot League in hits (133), triples (4), and runs scored (88) with a .245 team batting average.

Nandin comes to Colgate after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at East Carolina from 2015-2017. Prior to his experiences in Greenville, N.C., Nandin held the same post at Syracuse from 2013-2015.

Working primarily with the hitters at East Carolina, Nandin helped his team improve its win total by seven and saw increases in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, and home runs in his first season.

In 2017, Nandin helped recruit the No. 22 recruiting class in the country according to Flosoftball.com. That season, East Carolina set single-season school and AAC records for home runs, and ranked in the top 10 nationally in home runs per game.

Prior to his work at East Carolina, Nandin spent two years at Syracuse as the hitting coach. During his time with Syracuse, Nandin played a crucial role in the offensive production of the Orange. In his first year with the squad, he helped increase the team's batting average by 64 points for a school-record .290 clip. Under his tutelage, the Orange set single-season records for team batting average, on-base percentage (.376) and slugging percentage (.487). The team's on-base and slugging percentage were ranked in the top four in the ACC.

With Nandin mentoring hitters, Syracuse ranked 16th in the nation in home runs per game, 26th in doubles per game, and 31st in slugging percentage during the 2014 season. The Orange's homers per game and doubles per game marked program highs, while the team's 5.1 runs per game were also the second-best total in school history. Additionally, the team's runs per game increased by just over one per game from 2013, while Syracuse also saw its lowest strikeout total in five years.

Prior to coaching softball Nandin spent the past three seasons as the Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Le Moyne. Although he assisted in all aspects of the baseball program, Nandin’s primary responsibility was working with infielders and hitters.

Upon graduating, Nandin signed a professional contract with the American Defenders of the Can-Am League. Following a brief stop in Colombia, where as an All-Star second baseman he helped lead Caimanes De Barranquilla to the Colombian Winter League Championship, Nandin returned to the United States as a member of the Pittsfield Colonials where he played for two seasons.

In his first season with the Colonials, Nandin was an All-Star at shortstop and led the league with 25 doubles, while ranking third in hits (118), fourth in batting average (.321) and fifth in stolen bases (25). He split the 2012 season between the Rockland Boulders and the New Jersey Jackals before being re-acquired by the Boulders for 2013.

After winning the Can-Am League Championship in 2014, finishing in the top 10 in league batting average, runs scored, hits, doubles, hit by pitch and leading all second basemen in fielding percentage (.988), Nandin decided to hang up the cleats after six years of playing in the pros.

A career batting average of .288 led Nandin to the Can-Am League record book where he finished sixth all-time in doubles and ninth in runs scored and hits.
