Kaitlin Griffin

Kaitlin Griffin is entering her first season as head coach for Shelton State Community College Softball.


Most recently an assistant softball coach at Birmingham Southern College, Griffin helped coach the team to a 32-8 record in the 2021-22 season. She previously served as head softball coach at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Alabama. During her time at Oak Mountain, she led her players to five regional appearances, two area championships, one regional championship, and one state tournament appearance.


A native of Northport, Alabama, Coach Griffin played for Margie Wright at Fresno State from 2008 until 2012 and earned a Bachelor of Science at Fresno State in Kinesiology.

Leona Frazier

Leona Frazier joins the Buccaneers’ 2022-23 season as assistant coach for Shelton State Softball.


Prior to joining Shelton State, Frazier was a consistent contributor and starter as a student-athlete at The University of Alabama from 2013 until 2016. During her time with the Crimson Tide, Frazier garnered recognition as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-American, First Team All-South Region, Second Team All-SEC, and All-Defensive Team at first base. She also led the team with 16 home runs and 63 RBIs in her senior year.


Frazier brings experience from her three Women’s College World Series (WCWS) appearances to the Lady Bucs, including her distinction as a 2014 WCWS runner-up. In addition to time with the WCWS, Frazier also boasts four super regional appearances and four regional appearances.


Frazier graduated from The University of Alabama (UA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences. Following her student-athlete career at UA, she helped coach local travel teams until 2021 where she coached alongside Vann Stuedeman at Tuscaloosa County High School.
